Communicating stories through illustrations has always been something almost marginal, reserved to a selected percentage of public. But this aspect has evolved so much over recent years that illustration has become very common in our everyday landscapes. It is increasingly used as a tool to work in different creative, commercial and artistic disciplines. That is why, when it comes to reflect and show its current outlook, boundaries are usually dissolved and creators that represent it work in such diverse fields as advertising, graphic design or art.

Ink was born as a meeting point to facilitate the relationship between illustrators and creators from different countries. A space to learn about the current situation of world illustration and in which to talk about and reflect upon its present and also future. It turns to be a conceptual, visual, reflective exploration of illustration that we hope will lead to the finding of new places.

Comunicar historias a través de ilustraciones siempre ha sido algo casi marginal, reservado a un selecto porcentaje de público. Pero este aspecto ha evolucionado tanto los últimos años que la ilustración se ha convertido en algo muy habitual en nuestros paisajes cotidianos. Se emplea cada vez más, como herramienta de trabajo en diferentes disciplinas creativas, comerciales y artísticas. Es por esto que a la hora de reflexionar y mostrar el panorama actual de ésta los límites se diluyen y los creadores que lo representan trabajan en campos tan diversos como el de la publicidad, el diseño gráfico o el arte.

Ink nace como un lugar de encuentro que facilite la relación entre estos ilustradores-creadores de los distintos países. Un espacio que permita dar a conocer el panorama actual del mundo de la ilustración y en el que poder hablar y reflexionar sobre su presente y también su futuro. Resulta así una exploración conceptual, visual y reflexiva de la ilustración que esperemos desemboque en la búsqueda de nuevos lugares.

Digital catalogue from Ink 01 International Illustration Rally is already uploaded !!!
After months of waiting: We can finally enjoy it!!! It includes the final selection of artists participating in the online competition and graphic images of the best moments of the three days we spent in Bilbao.

Ink collaborator in the event CLONE graphix
CLONE graphix is an international graphic design and illustration challenge organized by CLONE magazine which will culminate in an edition of the special issue CLONE “Especial Gráfico”where there will be included a selection of the best received works. Besides an exhibition will be organizad in Seville.

Tras meses de espera: por fin podemos disfrutar de él. Incluye la selección final de artistas participantes en la convocatoria online e imágenes gráficas de los mejores momentos de los tres días que pasamos en Bilbao.

Ink colaborador de CLONE graphix
CLONE graphix es una convocatoria internacional de diseño gráfico e ilustración organizada por CLONE magazine, que culminará con la edición del ejemplar CLONE “Especial Gráfico”, donde se incluirá una selección de las mejores obras participantes. Además se montará una exposición con dichas obras en Sevilla.

INK 01. BILBAO 2008

During May 15th and 16th 2008  Ink 01 International Illustration Rally was held in the Fundación Bilbao Arte Fundazioa (http://www.bilbaoarte.org/). Besides, the work of the speakears and some selected artists was exhibited there for three weeks more, from May 16th until June 7th. The jury also selected some images (from the online competition entries) to be projected. At least one image of each artist was projected.

The jury met again several times to select the works of the participants for the catalogue. As we already mentioned, because of the quantity and quality of the entries this selection was made in two phases. It was really hard to choose. A first selection of 144 images was made on 15th and 16th July 2008. Those images were directly to a sencond phase which took place on 27th and 28th of August 2008. 124 images were selected to be part of the catalogue .

Los días 15 y 16 de mayo de 2008 se desarrolló Ink 01 Encuentro Internacional de Ilustración en las salas de la Fundación Bilbao Arte Fundazioa (http://www.bilbaoarte.org/). Además, la exposición programada entre los conferenciantes y artistas invitados se mantuvo durante tres semanas más, del 16 de mayo hasta el 7 de junio. En esa exposición se proyectaron también las obras seleccionadas por el jurado entre todos los participantes de la convocatoria online. Al menos se proyectó una obra de cada artista.

El jurado se volvió a reunir varias veces para seleccionar las obras de los participantes para el catálogo. Como ya hemos dicho por la cantidad y calidad de trabajos recibidos esta selección se hizo en dos fases. Los días 16 y 17 de julio de 2008 se hizo primera selección de 144 obras que pasaron a la segunda fase y los días 28 y 29 de agosto de 2008 se seleccionaron las 124 obras que forman parte del catálogo.

2008ko maiatzaren 15 eta 16an Ink01 Nazioarteko Ilustrazio Topaketa burutu zen Fundación Bilbao Arte Fundazioaren hareto nagusian (http://www.bilbaoarte.org/). 2008ko maiatzaren 16tik ekainaren 7ra arte antolatu zen erakusketaz aparte, denok dakizuenez artista,diseinatzaile grafiko, ilustratzaile eta sortzaileentzako on line deialdi bat antolatu zen. Jasotako irudi guztien artean epaimahai batek erakusketan proiektatzeko batzuk haukeratu zituen, gutxienez artista bakoitzaren lan bat ikusi ahal izan genuen.

Epaileak zenbait bider batu behar izan ziren katalogoan joango ziren lanak aukeratzeko. Lehen esan dugunez, jasotako lanen kopuru eta aitorrak selekzioa bi fasetan egin beharra eragin zuen. 2008ko uztailaren 15 eta 16an epaileek 144 lan aukeratu zituzten bigarren fase batean jarraitzeko. Guzti hauetatik 2008ko abuztuaren 27 eta 28an 124 lan hautatu zituzten katalogoaren parte izateko.
